Survival in Haiti

This story is amazing... after 7 and a half days buried underground, this little boy is rescued with the BIGGEST smile.

Don't forget to donate to Canadian Red Cross or another organization to help those in Haiti.

Check this out.... kinda scary!!! And I'm sure none of us had ANY idea that any of this was even going on!

Haiti

It's amazing how we can feel like we have had the worst day ever... or we are worried about what to wear, what to make for dinner, am I going to go to class today or not. We get mad if it's raining outside and we have to walk to class. We worry about what is essentially nothing, and we completely forget or just ignore the worse things in life, like the earthquake in Haiti.
I have caught myself turning off the television when coverage of the devastation, destruction, and horror that is Haiti comes on... when stories of the death toll are being reported... the smell is apparently so bad that you can barely walk for very long through the streets. Dead bodies are rotting and more people are dying, stuck under the rubble.

For those of you who are Christians, or any other religion that believes in a greater being that us, it is amazing to see the destruction that can be done. I don't know what exactly I believe in terms of why these disasters happen. Some people turn to (a) God, and some turn away. But nonetheless, through the destruction and death, it is amazing to hear the stories of survival, and the great help that pours in from all over the World.

I have decided that I want to donate money this week. I don't know if I will donate to World Vision, the Red Cross, or some other organization. I am going to look into all of them and pick which one I think is best. Although I know that any of them are better than doing nothing at all.

I hope that you will also decide to help. Every little bit helps. Even for those of us here in Canada who feel like we have no money... I was told last week that those people in Canada who are on Welfare, are still in the top 5% of the wealthiest people in the world. That means that 95% of the world is poorer than the least wealthy in Canada.

Just some food for thought.

Canadian Nationals

Well it has been a long weekend.... Nationals was here in London!

Friday I saw the junior free dance, and the junior men's final. There are some very promising future champions there that's for sure! Two triple axels in one program.. and an eleven year old on the podium!
The senior events were also exciting, unfortunately somewhat political I think. I probably shouldn't weigh in on it toooo much... but some marks were extremely high for what shouldn't have been. However, most of the marks given at a nationals championship are quite high because we want to make our skaters look good to the rest of the world... every country does it!

I have to say, I wish it was Weaver and Poje (dancers) who were going to the Olympics. Their Original Dance program was AMAZING!!! If you haven't seen it then you MUST watch it.
Dube and Davison were on their game and I am so happy for Annabelle and Cody for making it to the Olympics! They have been through a lot over the years, and of course they train in Barrie so I am very proud!

Patrick Chan was incredible of course - again I think his marks were elevated a little bit, he got the amazing marks on his footworks and such - not that I don't think he deserved it buut the marks were very high. I love watching Vaughn skate, he is sooo fast!!! He had an amazing skate tonight and finished second.

Cynthia Phaneuf is definitely back in the game! Her program was amazing and she was almost perfect. Just a few mistakes, so unfortunately (for Cynthia) Joannie Rochette was able to skate perfectly clean in the long program and take back her title.

All in all it was an amazing weekend....great skating and a lot of battles!
I am EXHAUSTED and I will probably read this over later and find more stuff I want to add later.... probably some pictures alsoooo!!

I just bought a ticket to the men's short program.... I am a little in shock right now at the price and the fact that I actually bought it... so I am not able to talk about it much right now.

Here is a picture of where my seat is.... however, I hope to move down into the lower section and find a seat that no one is sitting in. It worked at a few Hilary Duff concerts and at World's!! So I hope it will work at the Olympics!

VLOG 2

A comment

I would just like to comment on how horrible that video makes me look before you press play hahahha... it has a freeze frame at completely the WRONG moment.

I promise I will look better in future vids

Vloggginnng

Okay, sooooo this is the first of many of my entries to come. Basically I will be video taping a lot of stuff when I go to the Olympics in February. If you wanna see coverage that you WONT see on TV... well then you can watch it here! It will be awesome.

Sorry if this video isn't very exciting...it was the first one... a little nervous just because I don't like hearing myself talk on videos lol... you always hear yourself and its not what you think you sound like! BUT... I thought I would get a jump start on the video making now since I will be posting many of these in the future!

Versace!

Ok. So while I am a fan of many runway shows and a lot of the clothes that are in the runway shows, they are mostly clothes that I just cannot see myself wearing on a regular day. It's not that I don't have the money for them - okay well I don't have the money for them, but that isn't the reason I don't see myself wearing the clothes. Even when I look at the ready-to-wear clothing, a lot of it just isn't something that I am ready-to-wear (hahaha pun intended).

However, today I came across Versace's Spring/Summer 2010 collection... and WOW... I NEED ALL OF THOSE OUTFITS!
Again I am stuck with the price point... I don't even want to know how much each dress costs! But I just need every single one! (okay ALMOST every single one)

And, being the nerd that I am, I have to point out how impressed I am with Versace's website. It is pretty amazing! To look at the collection, the fashion show goes on and as each model is coming out in each outfit you can then zoom in on it and see a picture of it. So you watch the entire runway show! LOVE IT!
